Viognier « de Fontgaline »2024
Pays d'Oc · White wine · IGP Pays d'Oc
An oak-aged Viognier from Domaine Coudoulet in Languedoc, IGP Pays d'Oc, made from 30-year-old vines on limestone clay soil. The grapes are night-harvested and then fermented in Burgundy-style barrels, where the wine ages for 6 months, giving a creamy texture with floral and citrus aromas. Fontgaline is the producer's premium expression of Viognier and an alternative to barrel-aged Chardonnay.

The name comes from Occitan: «Font» means fountain, «galine» hen – Viognier grown by the "hen's fountain" and raised in oak. From the 2022 vintage onward, the wine has a new label and a new cork.
